My Candidacy Gateway Offers Remote Filing

Those interested in runnng for office in San Bernardino County can now begin the candidate filing process online with a new web app-My Candidacy Gateway.

Beginning Monday, February 14, and and continuing through 5 p.m. on Friday, March 11, citizens can file for the June 7, 2022 Statewide Direct Primary at SBCountyElections.com. Candidates unable to access the web application may call the Registrar of Voters to make an appointment.

Those running for city offices (up for election in San Bernardino or Loma Linda) must pick up and file their candidate filing documents at the appropriate City Clerk’s office during regular business hours.

The San Bernardino County Update reports "about 75 federal, state, county, judicial, and local offices are up for election in San Bernardino County, including statewide offices, United States Representatives for districts 23, 25, 28, 33, 35 and 40, State Senators for districts 18, 22 and 32, Members of the State Assembly for districts 34, 36, 39, 41, 45, 47, 50, 53, 58 and 59, Superior Court Judges for 34 offices, Barstow Community College District Governing Board Member, Chaffey Community College District Governing Board Members, Areas 3, 4 and 5, County Supervisors for districts 2 and 4, and Countywide offices."

DSA National Electoral Committee Strategic Recommendations state, "In 2022, chapters should focus on state legislative races, which have been some of DSA’s biggest successes to date. State legislatures wield an enormous amount of power in the US and are fertile grounds for advancing transformative reforms including healthcare for all, raising the minimum wage, and rent control. In blue states, unseating reactionary Democratic incumbents can drastically alter the dynamics of a legislature."
