Individuals and families who made under $73,000 in 2021 are eligible for free tax preparation resources.
Those whose combined household income totaled under $58,000 can visit select locations for free tax preparation from The Transitional Assistance Department through the IRS VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program. For assistance in Redlands at 1811 W. Lugonia Ave., call (909) 335-3279 to make an appointment. Colton (1900 W. Valley Blvd. (909) 421-3280) and San Bernardino (2740 Little Mountain Dr. (909) 475-2089) as well as other locations within and outside the East Valley are also available.
To use the service, taxpayers must bring identification, income forms, education credit and adustment forms, child credit information including childcare provider details, property taxes, information about itemized deductions including charitable donations, medical expenses, DMV registrations, and mortgage interest statements (added up prior to preparation), and their 2020 tax return to their appointments.
Both spouses must be present to file jointly.
