Redlands Awarded Grant to Support Houseless Population

Redlands was awarded $30 million from Project Homekey to convert the Good Nite Inn at 1675 Industrial Park Ave. into shelter for the houseless population. The project is set to create 98 beds and according to Councilmember Denise Davis, will include wraparound services and on-site case management.

"This is something that we've never done in the city of Redlands so I feel very proud of this council and the work that it's taken to get to this point, and I'm very grateful for the city staff and the people we've been working with at the county and the state that have helped make this happen. Big, big victory tonight," Davis said in an Instagram post.

Shangri-La Industries will renovate the motel and Step Up On Second Street will run the facility.

Project Homekey is administered by the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
